A new Christian movement is growing in the American South and Southwest. "Cowboy church" pastors say their simple services, Western decor and adjacent rodeo arenas are bringing in worshipers who thought they didn't like church.

Tuffy Gessling was at the center of a storm over a skit in which a clown in an Obama mask was chased by a bull. "I didn't do this to do any hating on anyone. I did this to be funny. I did it to be a joke," he tells Kansas City's KCTV.

"Comedians all over the country have used political figures to make fun of current events, it's nothing new," rodeo clown Tuffy Gessling has told a Missouri news outlet. The skit he directed at the state fair sparked outrage.

The fallout continues from Saturday's performance, during which the clown in the "Obama" mask and others mocked the president. Politicians from both sides of the aisle have condemned the act. Rush Limbaugh, meanwhile, puts part of the blame on the president.

At the Missouri State Fair, a crowd was worked up by the sight of "Obama" being chased by a raging bull. It felt "like some kind of Klan rally," a spectator says.
