Michael Arnold

Chief Audience and Content Officer

In my role as the Chief Audience and Content Officer, I oversee audience engagement and content development. I analyze audience preferences, oversee station programming, and implement multiplatform distribution strategies. I also deepen our station's community connection and foster a creative and audience-focused work environment.

My educational background includes a bachelor's degree from Ball State University and a master’s in strategic communication from Washington State University. Over the years, I have worked in various capacities at both commercial and public radio stations. I’ve been lucky to work at many esteemed radio stations, including Wisconsin Public Radio, New Hampshire Public Radio, WUNC North Carolina Public Radio, and WWNO in New Orleans. Additionally, I spent seven years in the content department at Public Radio International (now PRX), where I worked with the BBC World Service CBC Radio and other leading public broadcasters.

During my tenure as the chair of the Public Radio Program Directors Association, I played a key role in the development of a project called The Core Values of Public Radio. I have also been involved in research initiatives focused on expanding and diversifying the audience of public radio. Furthermore, I participated in a partnership program with the international nonprofit IREX, collaborating with broadcasters in Ukraine in 2003 and 2022.

When I’m not working, I enjoy biking and hiking with my wife, son, and two dogs.
