KUNC’s news staff has been recognized with five Associated Press Television-Radio Association awards including a first place for for September's flooding in Northern Colorado.
Reporter Nathan Heffel received three awards including a first place in the category and a second place in the category. He also won a first place in the category.
Reporter Grace Hood was recognized with a first place in the category.
KUNC competed against radio stations in 13 western states including Colorado. Entries were judged by AP members in Mississippi and Texas.
Heffel, Hood and arts reporter Carrie Saldo were also recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists’ Colorado Chapter for reporting work done in 2013 with a first and two third place awards. Previously, KUNC received a national Sigma Delta Chi award for excellence from the Society of Professional Journalists for coverage of the September floods.
