State officials are launching a new effort they hope will encourage companies to start carrying a state logo on their products. The royalty-free licensing program called 鈥淏y Colorado鈥 is for businesses and others interested in including the new logo in marketing.
So far 50 companies have applied at for the royalty-free program, including Go Lite, Udi鈥檚 Food, Smart Balance, Glutino and Crocs.
Colorado鈥檚 Chief Marketing Officer Aaron Kennedy says the impetus came from a successful 鈥淐olorado Proud鈥 program developed by the state Department of Agriculture.
鈥淲e saw the success our Department of Agriculture has had with Colorado Proud and we thought, 鈥榃hy not allow all companies and all things born from Colorado to be identified easily?鈥欌€ he says.
Federally illegal products, like marijuana or those that would reflect poorly on the state, like adult entertainment are excluded from participating.
