Colorado Gov. Jared Polis said he supports measures to make the industry more transparent about how it assesses homeowners鈥� risk amid increasingly extreme weather events.

Homeowners in Colorado have been watching their insurance costs climb in recent years. You might chalk that up to damaging wildfires and hailstorms that are so common here. But new technology may be the bigger culprit. On today's In The NoCo, we explore the real reason your homeowner鈥檚 insurance may be going up soon.

From 2022 to 2023, Colorado is seeing the second-highest increases in monthly private health insurance costs 鈥� nearly 20% 鈥� compared to the national average of less than 4%, according to an analysis by the finance website ValuePenguin. Wyoming and New Mexico also ranked in the top 5 with increases around 15%.
