With the election less than two months away, political rifts in Grand County mirror those across Colorado and the rest of the country. Changing demographics are exacerbating political differences and making it hard to focus on the issues that matter, even when Republicans and Democrats agree on them.

Grand Valley water managers have a plan to nip a potential zebra mussel infestation in the bud, with one irrigation district beginning treatment of its water this fall. Mesa County plans to apply on behalf of the irrigation districts and water providers for more than $4 million in funding, which will come from the remaining $450 million of Inflation Reduction Act funding for projects in the Colorado River鈥檚 Upper Basin.

More than 1,500 ice anglers came to Grand County for the 35th annual Three Lakes Ice Fishing Contest. For three cold days, anglers of all ages compete to catch the most prized fish in Lake Granby, Grand Lake and Shadow Mountain Reservoir.
