The Colorado Buffaloes begin Year two under coach Deion Sanders when they host FCS power North Dakota State. This season promises to be as entertaining as ever for Sanders and company, with celebrities galore sure to show up at Folsom Field along with pro scouts.

The University of Colorado football team held its spring game Saturday at Folsom Field. Heavy rain and cold temperatures didn’t stop a crowd of over 28,000 people from coming to watch. KUNC’s Mike Lyle was there to get a closer look at all the excitement brewing for the upcoming season in Boulder.

The league's first year without marquee programs Texas and Oklahoma will incorporate new members Arizona, Arizona State and Utah and mark the return of Colorado to the now 16-team league.

Luke Eckardt and Xavier Smith were excited about the prospect of playing for Deion Sanders. Neither got a chance after they and some 50 other Colorado players were cut after spring practice to make room for a flood of transfers. CU finished 4-8 after a 3-0 start.

Hunter and defensive back Henry Blackburn went to a bowling alley in the Boulder area on Wednesday to roll a few frames. Hunter was running a deep route in the first quarter of a game on Sept. 16 when he was hit by Blackburn shortly after the ball sailed over his head. Hunter returned to the game but later left to go to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with a lacerated liver. Hunter missed last weekend's 42-6 loss at Oregon.

Colorado's double-overtime victory against Colorado State, which ended in the early hours of Sunday morning in most of the country, drew 9.3 million viewers. That makes it the most watched late-night college football game ever on ESPN, the network said.

Mark Johnson has seen plenty of highs and lows in his 19 years calling games from the press box. But it’s safe to say the hype around this year’s 2-0 Colorado team is at a different level.

The Buffs rolled to victory over their long time rivals in front of the biggest crowd in 15 years.

The Buffaloes are ranked for the first time since a brief stay in the 2020 season. The Buffs were also ranked for two weeks in 2018, but have only finished a season in the Top 25 once (2016) in the last 20 seasons.
