Aurora police officer Randy Roedema was found guilty by the 12-person jury of criminally negligent homicide and third-degree assault. Officer Jason Rosenblatt was found not guilty. McClain died after being put in a neck hold by a third officer and pinned to the ground, then injected by paramedics with an overdose of ketamine. Colorado prosecutors are focusing on police body camera footage — both raw and digitally enhanced — as they build their case against two officers charged in the death of Elijah McClain. The officers in the Denver suburb of Aurora put the 23-year-old Black man in a neck hold in 2019. He was sedated by paramedics and later died. Attorneys for the officers say their actions were in line with police policies. The defense raised numerous objections Thursday to the digitally enhanced videos, but the judge indicated he would let jurors see them. McClain's death has been raised up by protesters as a searing example of excessive force against Black people.
