There’s an effort in Summit County to make these snowsports more accessible to everyone, and it’s being led by a longtime resident who understands the immigrant experience.

Valeri Nichushkin has been cleared to resume practicing with the Colorado Avalanche after receiving care from the player assistance program. The NHL and NHL Players' Association announced Monday that Nichushkin has entered the follow-up care phase. He has not yet been cleared to resume playing in games.

Colorado State has announced Joe Parker is stepping down from his role as director of athletics after nearly nine years. Weber has been serving as the executive director of the Rams' name, image and likeness collective. Parker will become a special advisor to CSU President Amy Parsons.

Veteran baseball broadcaster Jenny Cavnar is the new primary play-by-play announcer for the Oakland Athletics. Cavnar becomes the first woman to handle primary play-by-play duties in major league history. She has covered baseball for 17 of her 20 years in the media business, most recently calling Colorado Rockies games the past 12 years as a backup play-by-play announcer while also hosting pregame and postgame shows and regional coverage.

Adrián Beltré, Todd Helton and Joe Mauer have been elected to baseball's Hall of Fame while Billy Wagner and Gary Sheffield fell short. Helton, making his sixth ballot appearance, got 307 votes for 79.7%, 18 more than the needed 289 for 75% after falling 11 votes short last year.
