With about two weeks until the start of the , towns along the 600-mile race route are working overtime to communicate impending road closures and race-day details to residents.
In Northern Colorado—which has never before seen a race stage—co-chair Bob Herrfeldt says this means using multiple modes of communication to reach residents in Windsor, Loveland, Estes Park and Fort Collins.
“We’ve really been hitting the notifications on a lot of different levels,” he said. “Whether it’s knocking on doors, doing door hangers, mailers, community meetings and then all the social media, traditional mediums that we’re going to be hitting as well.”
The race will operate with “rolling closures,” meaning that a specific intersection could be closed anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes Saturday, August 24. On Friday night, portions of Mountain Avenue will be closed for the set-up of the Finish line in downtown Fort Collins.

The USA Pro Cycling Challenge kicks off August 19 in Aspen and ends the following Sunday in Denver.
