Josh Zygielbaum, clerk and recorder of Adams County, speaks to reporters at press conference on Wedesday.

The Adams County Clerk and Recorder will reprint more than 17,000 ballots after residents in Aurora discovered an error.

The ballots instruct voters to pick one candidate for an at-large city council seat. The problem is there are two seats up for election this year.

New ballots will be mailed on Friday, said Clerk and Recorder Josh Zygielbaum. Aurora residents should have corrected ballots by early next week.

鈥淭he integrity of the election is definitely intact,鈥 Zygielbaum said at a press conference Wednesday. 鈥淲e鈥檙e working with the Secretary of State and the City of Aurora to ensure that every vote counts and each individual has just one vote.鈥

To ensure similar mistakes aren鈥檛 made in the future, Zygielbaum said he plans to conduct a review after the Nov. 5 election.

In the meantime, he said, voters should complete and return the correct ballot and destroy the old one.
