Today is finally the day. The day where ‘hurry up and wait’ is the mantra while the polls are open for the electorate. Today we find out which candidate will secure the presidency.

Update 1:09 p.m.: As of 12:10 p.m., numbers released by the Secretary of State indicate that 1,943,630 votes have been cast in Colorado. 698,620 votes have been cast by registered Republicans, 663,282 by registered Democrats, and 560,512 by unaffiliated voters. Remember, these are vote counts by affiliation, not actual tallied votes for either candidate.

Polls in Colorado are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. MST. If you weren’t among the nearly 1.6 million that had voted by the close of early voting you will have to head to the polls today. Make sure you have what you need for a smooth voting experience.

As for prognostication on the eventual winner of the election, at this point, it’s anyone’s guess. found that Obama leads Romney 52-to-46, the in Colorado shows Obama by 1.5, and the Five Thirty Eight blog is projecting Obama by +1.3 in the polling average.
