There are only three statewide ballot questions facing voters this November. But when it comes to electing a president, Coloradans have plenty to choose from.
are listed on the ballot including a spot for a write-in. Even with so many names, publisher Jody Hope Strogoff says it shouldn’t impact President Obama or Mitt Romney’s chances of winning the state.
“But you never know. This is a swing state. And where every vote counts especially in Colorado it potentially could make a difference. But I don’t think that the major campaigns are threatened by it,” says Strogoff.
Colorado officially recognizes 5 parties including the Democratic, Republican, Constitution, Green and Libertarian Parties, meaning those candidates automatically make the ballot.
The remaining 11 candidates are on the ballot because they each paid a $500 fee by the August 8th deadline. The state also had 16 candidates for president on the 2008 election ballot.
