Mitt Romney Returning to Colorado

Home from Europe, Mitt Romney will court independent voters in swing-state Colorado Thursday, with campaign stops planned in Golden and the Aspen area.

This is the first time since he became the presumptive GOP nominee that Mitt Romney will appear in a swing county. His three previous visits were in mostly rural Republican-strongholds .

Some , wondering why he was avoiding suburban Denver where the votes are. Counties like Jefferson, Arapahoe and Larimer are thought to be key for either President Obama or challenger Romney to win in the state in November. , but have shown the race to be far tighter this year.

Romney will appear Thursday morning at the Jefferson County fairgrounds in Golden to deliver a speech that’s expected to focus on the economy. He’ll also court voters and appear alongside Republican governors in Basalt Thursday afternoon.
