As of 10:56 a.m. the Boulder Office of Emergency Management is reporting that the Sunshine Wildland Fire has not grown significantly in size. After a multi-mission aircraft (MMA) flyover of the area, the acreage only increased slightly overnight. The current estimate is 19 acres in size with slight variances in the estimated fire size due to spot fires located just outside of the main fire footprint.
Per fire management, the fire had no, to little growth overnight. Firefighters have increased their containment to 40%. We will receive an updated fire size after a multi-mission aircraft flyover. There are 60 firefighters working on the fire this morning.

UPDATE:
As of Dec. 19, 2022 at 6 p.m. nearly 1,000 people are still under evacuation orders west of Boulder. The Sunshine Wildland Fire prompted evacuations this afternoon in Pine Brook Hills and the area west of Foothills Community Park. An Evacuation warning has been lifted for west Boulder between Linden and University Ave.
Marya Washburn, a public information officer with Boulder Fire and Rescue said that because the fire weather has improved and the fire hasn't moved a lot, they were able to lift evacuation warnings for those within the city limits. Residents in that area can return to their normal activities although some roads are still closed.
A wildfire on Monday afternoon has prompted an evacuation order in Boulder County. Evacuations are in place for Pine Brook Hills and the area west of Foothills Community Park. Hikers are also being evacuated from Mount Sanitas.
The Boulder County Sheriff's Department issued an evacuation order around 2:12 p.m.
