Long-time member of , Makem was weaned on the music of Ireland, and then spent the rest of his life sharing it with the world. Initially he wanted to be an actor, and left his home for New York City, but the pubs of Greenwich Village are where he landed , sharing his stories, poems and music on stage. Makem passed on due to lung cancer on August 1st, 2007, but through his life, he gave the gift of himself鈥攈is heart, love of Ireland and his immense talent鈥攁 gift that will never die.
