Sunday, August 4 Update
According to Jefferson County officials, neighborhoods were taken from a mandatory to a pre-evacuation category. Re-entry badges are required for residents of the Deer Creek Mesa and Kester neighborhoods to return home.
To get a badge, homeowners must go to Dakota Ridge High School from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and present proof of identity and address to obtain a badge. Many have gone through that process and they are hopeful that other neighborhoods will be able to return to their homes soon. The badging system has been established to monitor who is going in and out and keep safety and traffic managed.
They report that they are feeling very good about where things are at and are at 20% containment.
Helicopters are assisting with the fire today.
An arson investigation is still underway. They are reporting it as human-caused and label it as arson regardless of it if was intentional or unintentional. They are aware of where the fire started.
There has still been no structure loss and the fire remains in open space with the closest point being a quarter of a mile to a structure.
They are telling homeowners to plan on seeing firefighters, apparatus and smoke coming from the ground for at least a week, if not more. Neighborhoods will be busy.

Quarry Fire morning update: Fire is now an arson investigation
The fire is now at 450 acres with 0% containment.
Yesterday, it grew by 100 acres, mostly in unpopulated areas. No injuries or structures were lost.
In this morning's briefing, Jefferson County Sheriff's officials noted that they've identified the fire's point of origin. It's now an active arson investigation, as they believe the fire to be "human-caused in some manner." Officials are remaining tight-lipped about the investigation and declined to share further information.
Today's support includes two hotshot crews (40 firefighters) and aerial work.
The terrain continues to be a challenge. Sheriff's officials noted that some firefighters with 20 years of experience say they've never worked in more difficult terrain.
They're cautiously optimistic that everything will go well Friday but warn that possible storms this afternoon could bring dry lightning and shifting winds.
Quarry Fire being investigated as arson
The Quarry Fire is now being investigated as arson.
"The reason it’s an arson investigation is that we preliminarily believe that this fire is human-caused in some manner," said Kevin Bost with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office during a Friday morning update.

Morning update on fire status
Fire managers say they’re making progress fighting the Quarry Fire burning in Jefferson County as the fire remains at around 450 acres.
During a morning press briefing streamed on Denver FOX31, Karlyn Tilley said they’re feeling cautiously optimistic about the day ahead.
" The caveat to that is possible storms that will be coming in later today," said Tilley. "So we are expecting some dry storms, and that could bring lightning and that could bring wind."
Jefferson County officials also say they’ve located where this fire started on Deer Creek. They believe it’s human-caused and are investigating it as arson.
