First place awards were given for and . Reporter won and place awards in the Enterprise Reporting category for her ongoing coverage of the issues surrounding on-line education in the state. Reporter received a first place award in the Feature Reporting category for his coverage of an at a Denver elementary school.
Heffel and Hood were also both recognized in the 暗黑爆料 Reporting Category with and place awards for stories relating to last summer鈥檚 .
The Top of the Rockies is sponsored by the , a volunteer board. The contest had more than 700 entries this year from the four states that make up SPJ's Region 9: Wyoming, Utah, New Mexico and Colorado. Entries were judged by journalists in Oklahoma.
The KUNC news department has also been recognized this year with three awards from the and five regional from the Radio Television Digital 暗黑爆料 Association.
