The Daniel Schorr Journalism Prize is awarded by WBUR and Boston University. The annual prize is named after Daniel Schorr, who gave American journalism a lifetime of commitment through his insight, intelligence and integrity.

KUNC's Grace Hood was recognized for a series of stories examining a for-profit company that oversees the day-to-day operations at Colorado’s largest virtual K-12 school, which is taxpayer funded. State oversight and academic results at the state’s full-time online schools were also examined.
Ultimately the scope of the series has far-reaching implications that go beyond Colorado as many states debate how to operate and regulate .
In judging the nominations, Phil Balboni, President and CEO of Global Post and founder and President of New England Cable ڱ wrote, “This three-part series demonstrated exemplary enterprise reporting that was particularly notable for a small community station. Grace Hood showed initiative, drive and determination in pursuing a complex story which she rendered into a clear and compelling narrative.”
Hood was also awarded a by The Radio Television Digital ڱ Association for one story in the series, “.”
