A list of proposed infrastructure improvements for Beaver Creek Mountain is up for public review and comment for the next 45 days.
That鈥檚 in part because the projects are within Beaver Creek鈥檚 Special Use Permit boundary, administered by the Forest Service. The improvements are intended to allow Beaver Creek Mountain to maintain its standing as a facility that can handle large competitions, possibly including the 2015 World Alpine Ski Championships.
鈥淭he ski resorts are a significant part of the local economy,鈥� says spokesman Pat Thrasher. 鈥淎nd Beaver Creek鈥檚 ability to continue to host world cup-class Alpine ski events does very much enhance its economic abilities.鈥�
Proposed projects include a new women鈥檚 downhill racecourse, a women鈥檚 giant slalom course that would use portions of existing trails, and modifications to the existing men鈥檚 downhill course. The public can review and comment on the until January 9, 2012.
