A list of proposed infrastructure improvements for Beaver Creek Mountain is up for public review and comment for the next 45 days.
That’s in part because the projects are within Beaver Creek’s Special Use Permit boundary, administered by the Forest Service. The improvements are intended to allow Beaver Creek Mountain to maintain its standing as a facility that can handle large competitions, possibly including the 2015 World Alpine Ski Championships.
“The ski resorts are a significant part of the local economy,” says spokesman Pat Thrasher. “And Beaver Creek’s ability to continue to host world cup-class Alpine ski events does very much enhance its economic abilities.”
Proposed projects include a new women’s downhill racecourse, a women’s giant slalom course that would use portions of existing trails, and modifications to the existing men’s downhill course. The public can review and comment on the until January 9, 2012.
