Starting next year, some parents in Larimer County will pay more for full-day kindergarten.
The Poudre School District Board of Education voted to raise tuition by about six percent, which is the estimated inflation rate and program cost increase. Full-day kindergarten will an additional $180 for the 2019-2020 school year, bringing the total fee to $3,015.
Board member Cathy Kipp said the increase is necessary to keep up with cost of providing kindergarten services.
"We only get provided about partial funding from the state," Kipp said. "So we have to make up the rest from parents, from people who are utilizing the service for all-day kindergarten."
The 2019-2020 school year will be the fourth year in a row that tuition has gone up. Tuition for the district's early childhood education program will also increase next year.
