State Beginning to Implement New Teacher and Principal Evaluations

Creative Commons

Colorado is starting to roll out its new model to evaluate teachers and principals and change how teachers get and keep tenure. 15 school districts from across the state are part of a pilot project that will test the measurements. The issue has deeply divided state lawmakers and some Democrats worry it鈥檒l end up being unfair to teachers and fail to improve student learning. KUNC鈥檚 State Capitol reporter Bente Birkeland has more.

Bente Birkeland is an award-winning journalist who joined Colorado Public Radio in August 2018 after a decade of reporting on the Colorado state capitol for the Rocky Mountain Community Radio collaborative and KUNC. In 2017, Bente was named Colorado Journalist of the Year by the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ), and she was awarded with a National Investigative Reporting Award by SPJ a year later.
