The video is just one of the many created by Andrew Walker of in Vancouver. Using the , a format used to provide timetable, stop location and route information; Walker integrated Denver’s information into visual form to create the video.
Walker has also created videos highlighting transit in places like , and . He hopes the videos help stimulate discussion on the role of public transit in urban settings.
As the video progresses, it’s easy to pick out the main arteries of Denver like the 16th Street Mall, Speer Boulevard, and Colfax Avenue. But if you look closely, you can also see RTD routes in Boulder and Longmont as well as busses traveling to DIA.
The dots are coded according to RTD’s different routes. Local lines are colored blue, express and light rail lines are orange, SkyRide to DIA appears dark blue and regional buses are dark greenish gray.
Here’s a link to a map showing all the cities that Walker has created for.
