State officials say Colorado’s agricultural exports are on the rise. New figures show exports up 18 percent during the first six months of 2012, compared to the same period last year.
In , Colorado Agriculture Commissioner John Salazar says ag exports are a key part of the state’s international export efforts.
“It is important that we continue to advocate for further access in global markets for our agricultural products. Colorado’s agricultural exports have further growth opportunities as we work to open and expand global markets.”
Colorado reports $710.1 million in exports through June, led by meat, dairy, wheat and vegetables – primarily dry beans. Mexico has been dealing with drought this year, which led to a large rise in bean exports.
