City of Boulder Officials hope to make a decision on the fate of the Harbeck-Bergheim House by mid-2019.

The fate of the former home of the Museum of Boulder won鈥檛 be decided until 2019.

Officials are exploring several options for the Harbeck-Bergheim House. Options for the landmark home including leasing it out, selling it or retaining it for city use.

In April the city began gathering community input. While a decision was originally expected by December, Boulder parks planner Tina Briggs says the deadline has been pushed back so that they can get more feedback.

鈥淲e did have an aggressive deadline,鈥 Briggs said. 鈥淧art of the feedback that we did get from the community was that the process was happening a bit too fast.鈥

Along with the creation of a joint advisory board, additional public meetings are expected to be scheduled for January 2019, she said.

鈥淯ltimately, this is a community decision so we鈥檙e putting a huge effort into talking to our community, to our boards, to our city council -- so that it is something that is hopefully beneficial to all of us,鈥 Briggs said.

The $3 million house has been empty since the Museum of Boulder moved into the former Masonic Lodge this spring. Briggs said they hope to have a recommendation by mid-2019.
