Comic Con Takes Over Denver This Weekend

More than 100,000 attended the 2015 Denver Comic Con.

This weekend will be a (BANG!) (ZOOM!) (POW!) good time as Denver Comic Con rolls into town.

The three-day convention dedicated to all things geek will include panel discussions, cosplay galore, an artists鈥� alley, vendors, gaming areas and, of course, celebrities. Guest panelists include Walking Dead鈥檚 Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Game of Thrones' Lena Headey, and Marvel Comics genius Stan Lee.

Denver Comic Con, June 17-19, 2016, Colorado Convention Center. $38-$44 (Saturday and three-day passes are sold out)

You could also travel back in time for the 1940s World War II Era Ball Saturday at the Boulder Airport. This is a chance to dress up in period costumes, dance to classic big band music and check out classic vehicles and planes from the era. It鈥檚 also a benefit to raise money for the Wounded Warriors project.

Come Monday, take the day off and play hooky with a screening of the 鈥�80s classic Ferris Bueller鈥檚 Day Off. Since it鈥檚 part of the Film on the Rocks series, there鈥檒l also be a kick off concert featuring Denver bands Strawberry Runners and The Baltic.

    More than 16 million American's fought in World War II. There's only about a million of them who are still alive and they're all older than 80. Hundreds are dying each day. A non-profit group has made it their mission to honor these remaining veterans by flying them to Washington, D.C., to visit the World War II memorial. The trip isn't something many veterans at this age can do 鈥� or afford 鈥� on their own. Since the first "Honor Flight" in 2005, groups in almost every state have followed suit and more than 100,000 vets have taken the journey.
