Sam Beam, better known by his stage name , released his first album, The Creek Drank The Cradle, on the Sub Pop label back in 2002. He wrote, performed, recorded and produced every track by himself at a studio in his home. Featuring acoustic guitars, banjo and slide guitar, the album's music has been favorably compared to that of , , and due to its alt-country and progressive folk arrangements.
Earlier this year, Beam released his most adventurous album and most successful record with Kiss Each Other Clean, which peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. Kiss Each Other Clean is a combination of Iron and Wine's best traits and Beam's experimental streak.
