The family of a pregnant woman who was shot and killed by police in Colorado have filed a lawsuit against the police officers who were on the scene.

A newly released arrest affidavit says 31-year-old Sonny Almanza, accused of killing police officer Dillon Vakoff, who was responding to a family disturbance, told investigators he didn't know law enforcement was at the scene when he started shooting.

Sonny Almanza faces multiple first-degree murder charges in the Sept. 11 killing of 27-year-old Arvada Police Officer Dillon Vakoff. Vakoff was shot while responding to a family disturbance that spilled into a street outside a housing complex.
