Tuesday is caucus night in Colorado. Hundreds of voters will gather starting at 7:00 p.m. to begin the process of for the 2014 midterm election.
"The precinct caucuses are sort of the campaign kickoff," Colorado Democratic Party executive director Jennifer Koch told ’s Anna Hanel. "[They] make Colorado a unique state and give a unique amount of influence to the political parties not only to decide the candidates but to also start the community organizing."
Turnout is typically lower in midterm election years, but Republicans are hoping for voter excitement this year, with the party fielding a large number of – Governor and U.S. Senator. The Colorado Senate race recently garnered considerable attention with that he will enter the field to take on incumbent Democrat Mark Udall.
