The IRS says couples can begin filing taxes as married in 2013, and generally, same-sex couples could file amended returns for 2010, 2011 and 2012.

Fort Carson officials are reacting to Wednesday鈥檚 announcement by the Department of Defense to extend all spousal and family benefits to same-sex spouses鈥�

The change will mean tens of thousands of dollars in payments to cover things such as health care and housing. The military also will provide leave for service members who must travel for a same-sex marriage.
