Chinese authorities pulled Apple iPads from shelves, because Proview Technology says it registered the name first, and while it reached an agreement with Apple in 2010, the company says it still holds the rights to use the name in mainland China.

Apple's newest iPhone went on sale in China Friday but soon sold out in the company's retail stores 鈥� and the disappointed crowds and the fights that started outside led Apple to restrict future sales to online purchases, at least for now. Apple fans were angry at the limited supply, and blamed the company 鈥� and scalpers.

After the blogger BirdAboard wrote about a spectacular rip-off of an Apple store, Chinese officials launched an investigation into 300 electronics stores in the southwest city of Kunming and shut down two of them.

It looks like the the real thing. The products seem to be Apple-made. But the now-famous shop got some details wrong. And a salesman admits it's not an authorized outlet. Credit an expatriate blogger with exposing the ruse.
