One of the hardest working touring bands in America is Athens' own Drive-By Truckers. There's something comforting about knowing a band is going to release a new album, then tour like the dickens behind it. Both Laura Marling's A Creature I Don't Know and Ryan Adams' Ashes & Fire are some of my favorites so far of 2011. The fact that I have Marling's 2010 album I Speak Because I Can to thank for Ashes & Fire is an extra musical bonus. Says Adams:
"I actually threw out the record I was writing and re-wrote the record based on that album. I thought to myself 'someone is actually taking this very seriously... I should probably take this seriously'. It was amazing, a great motivation".

Earlier in the fall Pomplamoose's Nataly Dawn took to to get backing for her 1st solo album. A tidal wave of support for the smooth voiced chanteuse ensued, fully funding the solo project on Sept 6th at over 5 times the goal. No details have been forthcoming on the album as of yet. If this thank you song for Michael and Candace Clarke, a cover of the Crash Test Dummies' "Superman's Song", is any indication then that solo album will be worth the wait...
