KUNC Wins Six Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards

The Radio Television Digital °µºÚ±¬ÁÏ Association has recognized the KUNC newsroom with a combined six regional Edward R. Murrow Awards for excellence in journalism.

The awards were given in region three in the U.S., which includes Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming.

For the second year in a row won in the Investigative category for a story examining on-line schools and the state funding they receive with .

She also won in the Sports category for her report on how a new cycling event is expected to benefit the state economically: .

was recognized in the New Documentary category for his reporting on how conversationalists are mobilizing to save the Yampa River with . 

He also received recognition in the Breaking °µºÚ±¬ÁÏ category on a story about how the state was responding to an equine herpes outbreak:  . Siegler also was honored in the best Use of Sound category: .

Overall the KUNC news department was singled out in the °µºÚ±¬ÁÏ Series category for a series of reports, , that put a face on last year’s budget crisis and the tough cuts facing state lawmakers.
