One of the first tasks will be challenging: mapping and characterizing the WUI in Colorado. Through geographic data, socio-economic characteristics and wildfire risk potential, researchers will build a database that will shed light on Colorado’s WUI.
Colorado legislators are searching for ways to prevent future wildfires and protect homes in the WUI. In September, recommendations to Gov. John Hickenlooper.
