More than 160 workers in Colorado will lose their jobs as a result of Hostess Brands' decision to go out of business.
Following the Friday, operations at its 33 factories nationwide were suspended and employees sent home. One of those is a Wonder Bread plant that can be seen from Interstate 25 just north of Denver that employs about 160.
According to the , the company plans to take several months to a year to wind down its operations.
In addition to the factories, roughly 500 Hostess outlet stores nationwide will also be going out of business. One of those is the in September after being closed for a decade.
The news Friday led to a run on Twinkies, Ding Dongs, Sno-Balls and other confections. Hostess says they will keep their outlets open for several days to sell any remaining already-baked products.
